Tomorrow is the 25th of March, and Greece will celebrate the Independence day (Ikostí-pémpti Martíou) and also the Annunciation of Virgin Mary (Evangelismós tis Theotókou). So during this week, children from the 6th grade prepared a show about the Uprising against Turkey, which happened in 1821. They also trained for the parade of tomorrow : they walk all together at the same rhythm, which is quite difficult to do (I tried… ) !
Today, they performed in the theater of the school, by saying texts and singing traditional songs, and of course, at the end, they sang the national hymn : Ύμνος εις την Ελευθερίαν. All the school was there to support them, as well as some parents and grand-parents.
Then, most of the pupils went back home. The children from the 5th and 6th grades stayed at school for the walk in honor to the dead seamen : They brought the Greek flag to the sailor statue of Vrontados, where they laid a wreath of laurel, and, after a minute’s silence, they sang the national hymn again, with students from the other schools of Vrontados.
