Summer Activities have also started in Vrontados. On Monday and Tuesday, we split up and go to the 2nd Primary School of Vrontados and the 3rd Primary School of Vrontados. There, we usually play a lot of ball games, for example football, volleyball or mila but also dance, do some gymnastics or play Ninja.
From Wednesday to Friday, we go to Petro Karavo. In the first weeks, we painted different games to the ground, like Twister, Hopscotch or Ludo. Also, we painted a Maze, a Parcour and a Snake with the numbers from 1 to 100.
We always try to come up with new games every day for the children. On one day, we made a paper plane competition in which they first learned how to make different kinds of paper planes. After that, they tried to let them fly as far as possible.
Another day, we decided to build a parcour around the playground for the children. The first station was already painted on the ground. After that, they had to run a short distance with jumping ropes. The next station was a football-slalom, where they had to shoot a goal at the end. Then, we made some obstacles which they had to overcome by jumping over it or crawl underneath it. After that, we made an egg and spoon race. For the last station, they had to wait for a second person, put a balloon between their backs and go as fast as possible to the finishing line. The children had a lot of fun and some did it also twice.
Also, the council supports us in Petro Karavo so we always have music and material like pens, colours or balls what is really nice and gives us more possibilities. The summer activities are also really good to learn new games and greek, especially for the new volunteers among us. We also love to experience that we can easily overcome the language barrier with the children with the body language and still have a lot of fun with them.
