One week before Christmas it is really hard for everyone to focus on school and work, so it was very convenient that there was an excursion for the whole school planned. All the children, most of the teachers and three of us volunteers got on the bus early in the morning this Monday and after a half an hour drive we arrived in the village Agios Georgios Sikousis.
As it was already time for the break and everyone was hungry we gathered in the main square and enjoyed the food we had brought. The children ran around, played their games and even started to dance at some point. After we were finished eating we were guided around the village and visited a beautiful church and a big rock which the people of the village could never remove from the middle of the street, allegedly because Agois Georgios’ horse stepped on it.
After that interesting walk most of the children went back to the main square to bridge the time we had left until the buses would pick us up again. The forth class visited a place where the famous Souma is produced from figs and learned about this process. Then it was already high time to end this very nice and interesting excursion and head back to the bus.
