In November 1973 students started a protest against the Regime of the Colonels and then locked themselves in the Athens Polytechnic. In memorial of the many people that stood up for freedom and fairness and got killed or injured Greeks celebrate the Athens Polytechnic Uprising on November 17th.
We went to watch the celebration of the 3rd primary school of Vrontados. The children of the 5th and 6th class prepared a very touching and interesting play about the Athens Polytechnic Uprising showing these events in a thoughtful and refreshing way. It was not hard for the audience consisting of us, friends, parents and other acquaintances to recognize how much energy and effort was put in this play and we were really impressed by the children’s talent as actors as well as the creative production and very much enjoyed the Greek songs they proudly performed on stage.
