It is summer again – and what does that mean? Right, summer activities!
This year the summer activities in Katarraktis are taking place 3 times per week, for 2 hours each. We meet up in the schoolyard of Katarraktis every monday, wednesday and friday to play games, do crafts and have fun.
What’s special about this year is that every week has a different topic. This week it was ‘animals’.
On monday we played lots of different games, involving mostly running and sports in general, for example ‘papia, papia, china’, snake-tag and an animal relay race.
On wednesday we focused on doing something creative, so we were drawing a lot and dancing, but we also played some sport games again. In one drawing game we first drew the head of an animal, then let someone else draw the body, and then again let someone else draw the legs, with some very interesting outcomes.
On friday we prepared a quiz for the children, in which they could test their knowledge on the fastest, biggest and heaviest animals. We also played a lot of games again, e.g. ‘Who am I?’ with animals and some running games.
The children seemed to enjoy the summer activities a lot, which we could see by their smiles, but also the big number of attendants (usually around 15) from 3 to 12 years old, even though if they were to decide, we would have spent the full 2 hours playing ‘papia, papia, china’.
If you are interested in joining the summer activites yourself, just visit us at the schoolyard in Katarraktis on one of the 3 days from 6 to 8 o’ clock pm, we are always happy to welcome new faces.
