Learning about a compost

On 21 of January, the 4th class of the Second Primary School of Vrontados took part in an excursion to one homestead where they could see a compost and learn about the ecological food.
The owner explained to the children that this natural process of decomposing is better for the environment than using toxic chemicals.
He also pointed out that they can’t put anything to the compost. For example grass, leaves and old fruits make a natural fertilizer.
The remains of plants and animals are helping to speed the process of decomposing up.
The students were very excited that it is so easy to do something good for the environment. They had much fun by putting different organic things inside the big compost box.
