On Friday the 27th of September it was sports day at the local schools in Vrontados.
At the second primary school of Vrontados the classes had to compete against each other in various different active games.
The first challenge was to pass the parkour built by the sports teacher. The children had to crawl under a table and run in zigzag lines past the cones. Furthermore, they had to balance a ball while doing the parkour which was very challenging. The other classes, who were waiting to participate, watched the children and supported them with their loud cheering.
At the end of the sports day the older boys and girls, from 5th and 6th grade, played a game of baseball against each other. The volunteers participated as well and the teachers as well as the remaining students came to watch the game. Some children even managed to hit a home run which always caused excitement and loud applause among the crowd.
After the game the students gave each other a handshake to show that they are not rivals but two teams whose aim it is to have fun while being active.
All in all it was a very successful and fun day. The children enjoyed playing the games and improving their athletic skills as well as learning how to work together as a team.
