Picnic at Daskalopetra

Near the end of the school year 2018/19, the 1st Kindergarten of Vrontados invited its children, their parents and families to have a picnic at a cafe at Daskalopetra. It was the second last school day and also a goodbye-celebration for all the children leaving the kindergarten and their parents.
As it slowly filled up in the morning, with more and more parents and children coming by, the atmosphere was joyous, the parents thanking the teachers for their work and the children running to the first structure on the playground. A lot of laughter from the children playing and the parents chatting, in the middle me playing with the children.
After one or two hours the children were called to a big table and food was brought from the cafe. On the menu were club sandwich with fries, souvlaki with fries and pita and fruit juice. Some children just couldn’t stop playing and needed a lot of conviction by their mothers to finally sit down.
After another hour of chatting and playing, the picnic slowly came to an end and parents and children were leaving one after another with heartfelt goodbyes and thanks. It was a really rewarding experience to hear the parents congratulating my work and how happy the children were when I spent time playing with them throughout the year.
