On the 22nd of February one of our volunteers accompanied the first and second graders of the 3rd Primary School of Vrontados. The Excursion started at 8:30 am, when the children got picked up from the school by a bus. They then drove to the city of Chios, where the Nautical Museum is.
The children then had a guided tour through the museum, with the 2 guides explaining the different exhibits and telling various stories about their former owners or the places where the exhibits were found. A lot of them were actually from this island. At the end of the tour, the children were even able to enter an authentic ancient grave, once again with a story about where they found the buried people. The excursion was then topped off by a walk along the port, where we stopped to have a little picnic and playing time. Even though especially younger children often have a difficult time paying attention for that long, everyone had a good time during this excursion, and around 1 pm the bus came to pick everyone up again.
