The second destination of the excursion on 20th of May was the archaeological site of Emporeios, this excursion was also worth it for our students! The Archaeological site of Emporeios has archaeological value because of the ancient settlement which was constructed on the hill centuries ago. Our students watched a video which explains the history and background of the site and after they walked up the hill and took a look at the ruins of the temple and the houses as well as the magnificent view of the Aegean Sea.
The settlement was founded by the Ionians in the 8th century BC, on the top of the hill was a fortification which includes a megaro building, and a temple dedicated to the patron of the settlement: Athena.
The incredible view is also one of the main attractions of this archaeological site, you can enjoy and admire the beauty of the Aegean Sea which lays out in front of us.
