Together with the children of the local primary school of Vrontados we went on an excursion to the Korais Library of Chios. Inside you can visit the Folklore Museum and the Art Gallery. The here presented items belonged to Philip Argenti. In 1932 he founded the Argenti Association. His goal was to preserve and promote the historical and folklore treasures of Chios Island.
We were introduced in the entrance hall and at the same time already shown some pictures and sculptures. We went in other rooms, were explained many facts. Afterwards we went to the Library. Here the children could have a look in some books. Furthermore we went from room to room and were passing very interesting places. There was one room in which old books were analysed and restored. Another corridor leads us to the big hall where many old books of the collection are placed. We were just allowed to have a look in, but not to enter this room. We went upstairs and visited different halls. Inside were old Greek family portraits as well as old kitchen accessories, material and clothes. From these halls we arrived again in the entrance hall, what was surprising us, because we left the house and entered another one before. Even when I did not understand so much it was nice to visit this place. By the way there are prospects even in English and French, which are describing as well as guiding you through the halls.
