On the 31st of March 2012, the lesson of the second period of “Junior Captain” was about safety on a ship. The participating children learned important things about surviving in distress.
During the lesson they were taught about safety precautions on a ship, about maneuvers ships do in danger of collision with another object.
Moreover, the 20 children had the opportunity to watch live how a extinguisher is used. For this presentation was used one of the sailing boat’s extinguisher.
An interesting video called “personal survival at sea” showed the children how the crew of a big ship proceeds in case of emergency on board, how life boats are built up etc.
At the end of the lesson, each child – one after the other – should put on a life jacket to demonstrate to the others how to put it on in case of an emergency.
