This week both groups of the 3rd kindergarten of Vrondadhos did an excursion to the “Centre of Enviromental Education Chios”. The group where Robert helps went on Wednesday 30th of October and my group did the same the day after Thursday 31st of October.
In a car convoy we made our way out to the forest of Omiroupoli where the centre is located. There our tour started with a short walk through the forest to the main building. Because this excursion was all about our enviroment the children were asked to be silent to notice the different sounds around them. Later in the center they learnt more about the various types of birds and animals in the forest but also about the diversity of Greek plants. With their new knowledge we made a second walk through the forest and this time the children were allowed to pick up things from the ground. We ended up with two huge bags full of leaves, cones and sticks. To round the excursion up and to prove the children`s new knowledge the team of the centre played a puppet theatre for them where the main character asked the children for help in many questions about the enviroment. Happy and well informed we went home again.
