In the evening of the 03.03.18 there took place a first aid lesson taking place in the library of the second primary school of Vrontados.
It was very interesting and definitely helpful for the future life.
We volunteers prepared the tecnical equipment beforehand, so that everything was set for the presentation.
The first aid experts explained in detail, which are the most important steps, when there is somebody lying on the ground, requiring our help.
First: Make sure that the person is out of the dangerous area.
Second: Ask the person with strong enough voice, if he/she can react.
In case that there is another person nearby pass a phone to call an emergency doctor.
In this context the presenters underlined the importance of remembering the international number “112”.
Third: Carefully put back the head of the person and open the mouth in order to prevent a blockade of the throat through the tongue.
Fourth: Listen, watch and feel if the person is still breathing.
If not, start with the attempt of resurrection.
After describing the usual resurrection measures they explained also what the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is.
It is a device, which is able to detect the heartbeat of a person needing a shock.
All you have to do is to follow the acoustical instructions of the AED.
Another important topic was, how you can help someone who swallowed something.
The first action is to beat on the back of the affected person.
When this does not help “hug” the affected person and try to pull the person to you at their stomach.
An important element of the presentation was the interaction with the audition.
They not only explained but also gave practical lesson, making use of a Dummy.
Moreover there was enough time left to answer questions.
