On 14 of January 2014, the Second Primary School in Vrontados organized an excursion for the students of classes 1-3.
Children together with their teachers and volunteers went to Chios City.
The second class visited a printing house, where the workers showed how the books, magazines and notebooks are created. They also explained what is their profession.
Children were interested in the big machines, printers and computers. They met a graphic who showed how, using a special program, we can change and improve the pictures.
After the presentation every visitor got the special notebook, on the cover was printed a photo of the whole group. This excpentional gift made the children very happy.
The first and third class visited the Chios Maritime Museum. They learnt about a very important part of the islands’ history, more precisely what was happening on the sea. In the rooms they could find many fascinating models of ships. The walls were decorated by paintings of famous Greek ships and sailing boats made by Greek artists. A colleague of the museum was explaning a lot and also showing a presentation about the development of ships. The children were very fascinated, especially how a ship can move in even very high waves
Later they were playing games to this topic. For this they made groups, were given a big blue towel and little ships made of paper. The colleagues gave sighns like slow or fast and the team having the most ships on their towel, won. Afterwards they were drawing how they imaginate their favourite ship.
