Last Friday, 11th of March we had the great opportunity to participate in the Carnival Party in both primary schools of Vrontados.
In 2nd Primary school of Vrontados this day was very special, because the children came to the school with the costumes. We could see pirates, princesses, football players, cowboy, rabbit and even Harry Potter. Children were so excited and happy because of the party. After the first break we came back to the classroom and the party had started! Children brought homemade food and sweets. Everything was prepared by the lovely parents. Afterwards we started dancing in the classroom, playing some games, singing and just having fun! Some children brought also the serpentine and they were spreading this around the classroom.
In the 3rd Primary School of Vrontados we celebrated the carnival all together by dressing up, dancing, eating and having fun in the school yard. We had all kinds of disguises in our school, the children and their parents were very creative. We had some princesses, pirates, cowboys, animals, witches, cheer-leaders, superheroes, Super-Mario, and so on. Firstly the children were eating candies and snacks in their classes, but after the break the whole school came to the yard and played and danced to Greek songs. Also we volunteers could learn some new Greek dances, try out Greek specialties and enjoy the time with the children and get to know them better. The teachers as well enjoyed the extraordinary time with the children and some of them even dressed up too. Appropriate to the tradition our headmaster tried to fly a kite, but as there was not enough wind on this day, unfortunately it was not more than some fruitless tries.
