Given the opportunity by the local primary school and the sports teacher, we, the volunteers, help in the athletic education of the children every school day from 11.30 – 13.30. Since many of us used to do or still pursue sportive activities, we are able to help better educating the children in sports like basketball or handball, volleyball, gymnastics and many more. We do of course not only help with our own knowledge, but we also assist in the preparation of e.g. obstacle courses, splitting the teams etc.
The sports lessons are for us a great possibility to get to know the children even better and to play with them. Not only do we show them how to get better in certain athletic disciplines, but we also have the chance to improve our Greek language skills, since communicating in sports is very important.
Therefore helping in these lessons is one of the mot entertaining tasks at the school, and we are very happy that we are able to contribute to this subject.
