Liberation Day

In 1912, after the first Balkan war, the Greek Navy liberated Chios Island from Turkey annexation. Every year, on the 11th of November, Chios celebrates the independence of the Island.

Thus, we had the opportunity the see the parade they organized: We saw the children from kinder garden to primary school, men and women in traditional suits, members of the police and army, politicians and priests.

It was a really great opportunity for us to see all these people processing in the street. After, we went to the center of Chios where the men and women were dancing the traditional Greek dances in their beautiful traditional costumes.

It was a unique experience for us to see a part of the Greek culture and taking pictures to share with you these memories.
