On the 3rd of December 2011, there was a very special lesson of “Maria Tsakos” Foundation’s workshop; members of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association “HELMEPA” taught the children about all the issues concerning the prevention of water pollution and environmental protection.

Because of the presentation of these subjects in a very informative and active way, the children could easily understand what environmental pollution can cause and what they themselves can do to prevent it.

The two big highlights of the day were a demonstration, in Chios City’s harbour, of how to remove polluted water of the sea with the special boat of the Environmental Engineering “epe” and the help of the water police of Chios.

And because of this special occasion, which did not just also attract randomly passing people, but was also the reason why the local TV came to film it and to have interviews with the project’s responsibles.

All of the children were very excited to take part at this special event.
