Two weeks later than usual due to the Corona pandemic, the primary schools finally closed on the 26th of June for the summer holidays. Thus, during the last week everyone was desperately waiting for the holiday. The teachers were starting to watch movies with the children and lessons like the theater class were held outside in the shade.
Even though the outbreak of the virus led to many extra rules in the daily school life which all had the same goal – keeping the distance – in the last week before the closure of the school for the summer holiday everyone got a bit closer again. However, a big celebration of the end of the school year was clearly not possible. Only for the 6th class which would leave the school, there was a little graduation event. This meant watching a video of the last six years together, nice words from the principal, teachers and children, as well as food and drinks. When it was the children’s turn to say a few words, there were some tears shed (mainly by the mothers), but the whole atmosphere was very happy. As a sign of their graduation from primary school all children got a little present and a graduation hat, which meant picture time! While the mothers and children were busy checking out their present or respectively taking photos, the fathers stayed cool and discussed in the background.
