The 3rd kindergarten of Vrontados had their final celebration on the 24th of June. This year the schools and kindergartens were open two weeks longer than usually because they had to close for many weeks due to the outbreak of Corona in 2020. We, the volunteers were very happy that we could be part of this kindergarten for one year and that the kindergarten reopened for the last month so that we could see the children again. It was an amazing experience to become a member of the teacher’s team and to work with the children.
The final celebration took place in a restaurant next to a local beach. Not only the parents but also a professional photographer took many pictures of the kids during the event to have memories for afterwards.
There was a playground just next to the restaurant. So the children enjoyed playing different games while the parents were drinking a coffee and talking to each other.
All the children came forward one by one and were given a certificate for the year and a little bracelet. Many of the children will return back to the kindergarten after the summer vacation but others will leave the kindergarten and enter primary school. The children who will leave had to wear a graduation hat to celebrate the end of the kindergarten for them.
The day after the celebration was the last day of kindergarten. The teachers prepared many games with water for the children. They raced against each other, played fishing games, emptied water bowls and of course played with water pistols. They had a lot of fun playing with the others and enjoyed their last day a bit wetter than on the other days.
All in all, it was really nice to see how the children grew and developed in the year that we spent with them. We are very sad to leave them now and wish them all the best for their future.
