On Halloween, the 31st of October, the second primary school of Vrontados decided to do an excursion to the nearby beach of Daskalopetra.
The beach is named after the famous poet Homer. Homer used to teach his students on the rock, which is just up the hill above the beach. That is why translated Daskalopetra means “Homers stone” or rather “teachers stone”.
Once we arrived at the beach the children immediately went to the playground to play their favourite games. On the playground of Daskalopetra there are many fun things to do. You can use the climbing frame, the slides or play on the football field. The children had lots of fun while trying out all the different activities.
The volunteers supervised the children and participated in their games, for example by playing catch or football.
While playing with the children, we got the chance of practising our language skills by learning a few more popular games. Furthermore, we could enjoy the sunny weather while having a beautiful view over the white pebble beach.
