After a long break of summer holidays schools finally started again on 14th of September. In the kindergarten we already started preparing everything two weeks before the children arrived at school.
Every year the kindergarten teachers select a motto for the whole kindergarten. As this year’s motto is “castle” we decorated the classrooms and the whole kindergarten in that way.
On the first day of school the children had no classes yet but where informed about what to bring with them the next days and got blessed by the priest in a ceremony called “αγιασμός”. Besides a letter for their parents every child furthermore got three reusable masks and a small present.
Due to the current situation of Corona all children and teachers have to wear a mask inside the school. It is also one of the tasks of us volunteers to assist the teachers informing the children about the corona-restrictions and to make sure everyone is following them.
During the day we help preparing the lessons, do handicrafts, assist the teachers while playing games with the children and help whenever we can. Even if it was not easy in the beginning to remember the name of every child, we get to know them better every day and are now looking forward spending the next school year in the kindergarten!
