{"id":5567,"date":"2020-07-06T07:55:20","date_gmt":"2020-07-06T07:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4youth.gr\/?p=5567"},"modified":"2020-07-06T07:55:22","modified_gmt":"2020-07-06T07:55:22","slug":"field-trip-to-the-port-and-homers-stone-2nd-primary-school-of-vrontados-19th-of-june-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/4youth.gr\/index.php\/2020\/07\/06\/field-trip-to-the-port-and-homers-stone-2nd-primary-school-of-vrontados-19th-of-june-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Field trip to the port and Homer\u2019s stone &#8211; 2nd Primary School of Vrontados \u2013 19th of June 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to the Coronavirus pandemic all the schools\nof Chios were closed for safety measures from\nthe 11<sup>th<\/sup> of March to the 31<sup>st<\/sup> of May 2020. The primary\nschools and kindergartens reopened on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> of June for a month,\ntherefore extending the school year a little longer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the 19<sup>th<\/sup> of June 2020, the 5<sup>th<\/sup>\nclass of the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Primary\n  School of Vrontados\nwent on a field trip. We met up with the children directly at the port, next to\nDaskalopetra. They learned about the different boats and the different types of\nfishes they can catch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We then walked up to what is called Homer\u2019s\nStone. It is said that Homer leaned on the stone while teaching his students.\nJust below is the Sanctuary of Cybele. It worships nature, back in the time\nthere was a river passing near by, therefore making it the perfect location,\nclose to the water and to the forest. Scientific say that the stone was\nactually a statue of Cybele but with time and erosion it became unrecognizable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From this height, we have a nice view over the\nport and can catch sight of Turkey.\nTheir teacher made them imagine what it must have looked like before. Each\nchild made a drawing and then taking Homer\u2019s place on the stone, showed the\nother children while explaining why they drew it like that. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We then walked back down to relax at a caf\u00e9\nwhile the children played around before going back to the school.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul
